Sir Owen Glenn Theatre \ Whats on \ Party Time! With Georgia Jamieson-Emms
24 May 2025
Lisotta is straight off the farm, but she doesn’t want just guitars and ukeleles at her party. Lisotta wants a real orchestra with flutes, oboes, clarinets, horns, trumpets, timpani and violins.
This story is brilliantly illustrated in a song by Antonio Salieri that is a fun person’s guide to the orchestra. It’s the centrepiece of Opus Orchestra’s 2025 family series.
Georgia Jamieson-Emms introduces a sparkling range of party music—music about music and dance. So, from Philip Norman’s ‘Tin Can Band’ we progress to Mozart’s Seraglio Overture where our young audience can play percussion.
Then on through Mendelssohn, Johann Strauss (‘The laughing song’), a David Farquhar Rhumba to Frederick Loewe’s ‘I could have danced all night’. And we’ll have the children singing too!"
