Hākari: Te Iwa o Matariki

06 Jul 2026

Presented as part of Hawaikirangi – Reconnecting with the Night Sky, this premium opening event brings together indigenous cuisine, storytelling, and celestial knowledge in a truly immersive evening experience.

The evening begins with kōrero from internationally respected Matariki authority Prof. Rangi Mātāmua, who will explore the cultural significance of Matariki and the enduring connections between the stars, remembrance, renewal, and reconnection.

Guests will then enjoy a Matariki degustation created by renowned food curator Raukura Huata. Inspired by seasonal ingredients and the narratives of the Māori New Year, each course will celebrate the richness of indigenous knowledge and the stories woven through our relationship with the natural world.

This unique event offers a rare opportunity to experience mātauranga Māori through both kai and kōrero, creating a memorable and meaningful evening of reflection, learning, and connection.
